RFD88A Overmolded Energy Harvesting Engine Module. 8mm x 10mm x 1.6mm. This module when used with a super capacitor and an energy harvesting module like a solar cell, RFD102A or RFD103A or a piezoelectric source will charge up to 5.2V, 3.0V or 2.5V and then discharge the supercapacitor through the module output pin until 1V is reached and then the charging cycle begins again. This easy to use module helps systems deliver more power to a motor, transmitter or other circuit than would be available if the energy harvesting modules were connected directly to the application.

The RFD88A is an 8mm x 10mm x 1.6mm solar engine module that helps low power energy harvesting modules deliver higher currents to motors, transmitters or other applications.  The module when used with a supercapacitor and a solar cell, wireless energy harvesting module (RFD102A or RFD103A) or piezo electric harvesting module will wait until the supercapacitor has reached VHIGH (5.3V or 3.0V or 2.5V) until it switches the charged capacitor to its output pin.  The supercapacitor will discharge until 1.0V has been reached and the charging/discharging cycle will repeat.  The module is easily tested using two 4-pin headers (available upon request) that can be soldered to the bottom pins.  The user can select which VHIGH to use by grounding or leaving open circuited pins 2 and 3 in the module.  See the RFD88A data sheet for more information. RFD88A_Datasheet_latest An excellent tutorial on solar engines is provided at the following link.  http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Easter-Solar-Engine/?ALLSTEPS
